When I met Steve and Paul something amazing happened. I found myself squarely in the path of their relentless need to give. The collision that ensued was extraordinary.
In order to inhale, you must exhale. When a wave comes into shore, it must then go out. And when a need must be fulfilled, someone needs to give.
As breathing and waves quietly obey the laws of nature, so giving and receiving are also a part of the circle of life.
Most of us have embraced this notion and have built giving into our lives in some form or fashion. Whether it is tithing at church, giving a blanket to the homeless or supporting a friend who is struggling, we do it because, quite frankly, giving feels good.
But there is another side of that coin that we often miss.
Sometimes we have to receive first, before we can give.
